Effective Date: April 13, 2026
XCIV ("we," "us," or "our") built Courtside as a privacy-first basketball stat-tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. We believe your data belongs to you — Courtside stores virtually everything on your device and does not require an account or login.
When you use Courtside, you create and enter data directly into the App, including:
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers because we do not operate any.
Courtside requests access to your device camera and photo library solely for the roster-scanning feature, which reads printed roster or program sheets to extract player names and jersey numbers. Images are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Images are not stored by the App after processing and are never uploaded to our servers.
If on-device text recognition does not produce usable results, Courtside may send the image to Google's Gemini API for a second attempt at text extraction. When this occurs:
No other personal data is shared with Google or any other third party.
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your Courtside data (rosters, games, stats) may sync across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is managed entirely by Apple's infrastructure and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. You can disable iCloud sync for Courtside in your device Settings.
Courtside does not collect or process:
All data you enter into Courtside exists to serve the App's core purpose: helping you track basketball statistics. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the functionality of the App itself.
Your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database managed by SwiftData. If iCloud sync is enabled, Apple encrypts data in transit and at rest within iCloud. We do not have access to your data in either case. Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, we cannot be the source of a data breach involving your Courtside data.
Your data persists on your device for as long as you use the App. You can delete individual games, rosters, or all App data at any time. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. To remove iCloud-synced data, you can manage this through your device's iCloud Storage settings.
Courtside does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require an account and does not transmit personal data to us. Roster data entered by coaches or scorekeepers (which may include the names of minors) is stored only on the user's device and/or their private iCloud account.
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, traditional data-access and deletion requests do not apply to us directly. You have full control of your data on your device. If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (such as the EU/GDPR, California/CCPA, or similar), and you believe we hold any data about you, please contact us and we will respond promptly.
The following table summarizes Courtside's data practices as presented on the App Store:
